BAD BREATH  (HALITOSIS)

(back to nutrition facts A to Z menu)

Rule out poor dental hygiene, gum disease, tooth decay, nose or throat infection, sinusitis, smoking or diabetes.  Other causes of halitosis or bad breath include poor nutrition, constipation and excessive unfriendly bacteria in the colon or mouth, liver malfunction, indigestion, too little stomach acid and inadequate protein digestion.

Nutrition Facts and Diet advice for Bad Breath

Follow the Four Week Cleanse using Psyllium Husks and Bentonite Clay, together with a Colon Cleansing preparation.

Avoid strong-smelling foods such as strong cheeses, anchovies, garlic, spicy processed meats, and tin fish, as well as beer, whisky and wine.

Brush your teeth and tongue after every meal and use dental floss every day.

Change your toothbrush every few weeks and store in diluted grapefruit seed extract (see below) to kill germs on the toothbrush.

Avoid using commercial mouthwashes; these can make the problem worse in the long run.

Health Supplements for Bad Breath (Halitosis)

(click health supplement to go there.)

1 rounded teaspoon Colofibre in juice or water 1-3 times a day (from Higher Nature)

3-9 capsules of AquaSource Klamath Lake Blue Green Algae. This algae is very high in chlorophyll and is very detoxifying, so start with 2 capsules per day, and every week increase by 1 capsule per day until you reach 6-9 capsules or more per day.  Drink plenty of clean water to help the toxins leave the body.

1 x Supergest digestive enzyme with each main meal. (Higher Nature)

1  x Ultra Vitamin C Plus bioflavonoids, 1000mg three times a day (Higher Nature)

Also consider Grapefruit Seed Extract (Citricidal) both internally and as a disinfectant for the toothbrush.  (Citricidal from Higher Nature.)

If there is gum disease (see Periodontal disease) consider a Co-enzyme Q10 supplement. (Microcell CoQ10 Plus Linseed Oil and Vitamin E) (BioCare)

Psyllium Husks and Bentonite Clay (see Four Week Cleanse)
