| | Nutri-West Penta-Cal-Plus Phosphorous-free Chelated Calcium Complex | Recommended Intake: 1-3 Nutri-West Penta-Cal-Plus tablets daily with food, or as professionally directed. Caution: Penta-Cal-Plus not recommended for individuals with kidney stones. Thyroxine users - Recent research suggests that calcium supplementation may cause the medicine thyroxine (widely prescribed to treat an underactive thyroid) to be less effective and may slow the absorption of thyroxine into the bloodstream and thus lower effectiveness. Taking calcium and thyroxine 6 to 12 hours apart may prevent interference. In every event, we would advise all individuals to inform their doctor of all supplements they are taking in conjunction with thyroxine. Individuals who have had part of their thyroid removed, along with one or more parathyroid glands, will need to monitor calcium levels (your GP will be able to arrange this). | Code nu1362 | Size 250 tablets | Price £12.46 |

Nutri-West Penta-Cal-Plus Features Penta-Cal-Plus is a combination of six forms of phosphorous free, neutral pH calcium. Calcium plays a major role in building and maintaining bones and teeth. Calcium is important in much of the body's enzyme activity. Calcium is used in the contraction of muscles and the release of neurotransmitters. Calcium is also involved in the regulation of heartbeat, and the clotting of blood. Penta-Cal-Plus contains neutral pH calcium in order to avoid the acidifying effects commonly associated with calcium supplementation. The addition of amino acids, L-Lysine and L-Glutamic Acid helps to ensure efficient transport of calcium into the body's cells. Penta-Cal-Plus contains betaine HCl to ensure proper assimilation of the calcium.
Each Nutri-West Penta-Cal-Plus tablet typically contains: Calcium (as Chelate Caseinate, Gluconate, Sulphate, Lactate, Carbonate) 250mg, Magnesium (as Oxide) 10mg, Vitamin C (as Ascorbate) 16.7mg, Vitamin D3 (133 iu) 3.33g, Glutamic Acid 1.67mg, L-Lysine 1.67mg, Betaine HCl 1.67mg. Tableted with Methyl Cellulose, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Stearic Acid and Magnesium Stearate. Correct as at 03/2000. Nutri-West manufacturing is run and governed under the rules of the Federal Good Manufacturing Practice Act (GMP) and as such is inspected regularly by the American Food and Drug Administration. Nutri-West manufacturing received the FDA Blue Ribbon Award for Excellence. All raw materials used in the manufacturing of Nutri-West products are supported by a certificate of analysis by the raw material manufacturer, which guarantees potency (i.e. a pharmaceutical grade for vitamins and minerals and certified grade for herbs). Certification of the herbs guarantees that the pharmacologically active parts of the plants are used in Nutri-West products. At regular random intervals, these samples are sent to independent laboratories for analysis. All herbs and food concentrates used in Nutri-West products are certified organically grown whenever available. All glandular sources are from certified bovine sources. All nutrients are tested for heavy metal toxicity and contamination by independent certified laboratories. No artificial preservatives, colourings, additives, flavourings or stabilisers are used in manufacturing. Nutri-West products are as hypoallergenic as possible. Common allergy-reactive substances such as wheat, yeast and corn are avoided. Minerals Minerals are the inorganic elements which comprise part of the body. They contribute from 60% to 80% of all the inorganic material in the human body. The trace elements make up the remainder. Minerals and trace elements serve as vital catalysts for the biological reactions that take place within the body. They are found, for example, in bones, teeth and soft tissues. They are needed for the production of blood, hormones and enzymes, thus serving a life sustaining function. The absorption of minerals and trace elements (excluding electrolytes) is generally less efficient than that of other nutrients. The term “bioavailability” refers to the degree to which a particular nutrient is available for use in the body. There are many factors which influence bioavailability including the compound form of the mineral or trace element. Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body. Its primary function – in cooperation with phosphorus – is to help build and maintain bones and teeth. Calcium aids the blood-clotting process and helps control the passage of fluids through cells. Calcium is also is related to proper functioning of the heart and neuromuscular system. Nutri-West Penta-Cal-Plus Phosphorous-free Chelated Calcium Complex
