Boys Behaving Badly Trial

Don't miss this two-part television programme 'Tonight with Trevor McDonald'  to be shown on Monday 25th April and Friday 29th April at 8pm on ITV.

The programme follows three aggressive teenagers who had a history of getting into trouble and disruptive behaviour at schools.

The teenagers were assessed by the Brain Bio Centre in South West London, who specialise in mental health problems using optimum nutrition.

(telephone 020 8871 9261)

We haven't seen the programmes yet, but know that their usual methods would involve changes to diet, with the addition of nutritional supplements.

As most teenagers with behavioural and learning problems have poor blood sugar control, and a lack of nutrients in their diets (especially B and C vitamins and essential fats such as omega 3, as well as zinc, and perhaps magnesium and other nervous system nutrients), we imagine that we will see positive changes in these teenagers.

Head Lice epidemic

More of a pandemic really! Now that the kids are back at school, you may need some Delacet.

Thank you for your recipes

In response to our recent newsletter on Jamie Oliver's sterling work improving school lunches, we have received the following recipe ideas for kids' packed lunches.

Thanks also to Chris Gandy for sending us her thoughts on Jamie Oliver's efforts - a bottle of Eskimo Kids is on its way to you.

Email from Chris Gandy:

"Hurrah ......... Well at last it has taken a young man with a passion (which should be held by every person) to be happy. Yes, because that is what this will help so many of our children to be:

  1. happier sunnier children

  2. less visits to the doctor

  3. better body and internal growth

  4. other people will like these children better too

  5. their ability to learn and absorb information

  6. and best of all they may be happier teenagers

I have seen the results of better nutrition for myself and would like to say I was very pleased to see your references to this in your newsletter. Again I say well done Jamie."

Recipes which you have sent us:

"My daughter hates sandwiches so, when she had to stay packed lunch, I prepared a cold pasta salad. I cooked and chilled pasta shapes and added small pieces of cucumber, cherry tomatoes, cubed cheese and a handful of peanuts.(The beauty of it is, you can add whatever you like or have in and it is always delicious!)"       P. Lawson

"I give my 7 year old roasted vegetables (left over from the evening before) with couscous or cold pasta, and add pine nuts or cashew nuts. The box always comes home empty!"    Mrs Nuttall

"Wraps with leftover chicken with lettuce, basil and tomato ... but remove the tomato seeds so the wrap doesn't get soggy. This is a big hit with my son." Mr G. Michael

"Cold salmon or chicken pieces from the night before with some salad. 4 times out of 5 they eat it and sometimes it makes it way home again!" Teresa
