HANGOVER
Most
of us have had a bad hangover at least once. Two things are happening in the
body whilst we think we are dying in bed. Firstly,
we’re pretty much dehydrated and, secondly, we’ve poisoned ourselves faster
than the liver can deal with the alcohol. Headache,
nausea and fatigue are the result. Not
all hangovers are quite so severe, but the reasons for them are the same –
dehydration and toxicity.

Advice for Hangover
Obviously
drinking alcohol to excess can’t be part of an optimum diet.
However, for many people there will be occasions when you know that
you’re going to have too much alcohol. You
can reduce the symptoms the next day if you follow a healthy, clean diet –
plenty of vegetables, especially broccoli, and some fruit, brown rice, millet,
etc. – and avoid coffee, sugar, white bread, pastries, etc.
Both before and whilst you are drinking alcohol, also drink copious
amounts of water to prevent you being dehydrated.
Health Supplements
Often, a combination of
supplements may help in alleviating this condition. You may
wish to consult a nutritional therapist for personal advice.
