MERCURY TOXICITY

About Mercury Toxicity

Mercury toxicity can cause depression, arthritis, dermatitis, dizziness, fatigue, gum disease, hair loss, excessive saliva, memory loss, muscle weakness and insomnia.  High levels can cause brain damage, blindness and paralysis.  Mercury is a cumulative poison which is found in our soil, water and food supply, as well as fungicides and pesticides.  Large fish are particularly suspect.  Mercury is also found in cosmetics, dental fillings, fabric softeners, printer inks and tattoo ink, plastics, polishes, solvents, wood preservatives, and even some medications(!).

Nutrition Facts & Diet Advice for mercury Toxicity.

Consider the following nutrition guidelines:

  • Eat organically grown foods.

  • Eat a high-fibre diet including plenty of beans and pulses, fruit and vegetables, oat bran, flaxseed and apples.

  • Eat onions and garlic.

  • If you suspect mercury toxicity, avoid large fish such as tuna and swordfish.

  • Do not drink water straight from the tap.

  • Consider having a hair mineral analysis which a nutritional consultant can arrange for you.

  • Do not be tempted to remove all amalgam fillings without the expert advice of a dentist specialising in mercury detoxification.
